Nasi Ulam and the Hunky Man

Found this great recipe which I must share.

All ingredients (well, almost) can be found in the kitchen garden at Pasir Ris Park. Of course!

Nasi Ulam or Rice Salad is a malay or peranakan dish, depending on which end of the scale you're in. And compared to nasi lemak, nasi ulam is definitely more healthy and delicious.

The same recipe was used for a recent cooking workshop organised by the very good people at Pasir Ris Park and feedback received was quite good I must say. This lady even claimed that the rice salad helped purged out the crampy wind from her stomach.... Don't ask from which end!
I didn't want details.

But imagine, if that one tablespoon she ate can rid her of her troubled stomach wind, what wonders can a bowl of nasi ulam do?!?!. Maybe can lose 1 to 2 kg of weight! I must warn though, may be air you're losing (if that's possible) and not fats. For those willing to try, let me know if this diet really works ya.

Oh! Nearly forgot about the hunky man in the subject title. For those who is giving the recipe a go, you must, MUST purchase your ingredients from this hunky man at tekka market. Yes. You read it right. It's TEKKA MARKET! You'll not missed him. His store is the only one with loud jazzy music. Imagine listening to Dionne Warwick and Michael Buble while choosing the fresh herbs and vegetables there. His pricing is reasonable too. He even greets you. And recommends! Beat that!

Recipe for Nasi Ulam

Ingredients:
2 cups of cooked rice
10 g salted fish, fried and shredded finely
1 handful dried shrimps, fried
1 tbsp belacan, toasted

Herbs ( Finely sliced):
Handful shallots

pepper and salt to taste

Method

2. Fry and toast the dry ingredients like dried prawns, dried fish and belacan respectively.

Curse or showers of blessing

Did you notice how it rains everytime we have an event at the park?
I used to play this game where I eliminate all the possible cause for rain - For eg, my shoes (rains everytime I wear that pair). Then there was this pair of jeans.... bag, file. You name it, I've stopped wearing or carrying them! Have this funny feeling it's the company I am with when in park.... hmm...
